Writing a PSHE/SRE policy for your school – for teachers and governors

A half day workshop for teachers and governors exploring the whole school approach to policy writing

Outcomes

Participants will consider:

  • The whole school approach to writing a policy for their school including the importance of consultation with staff, pupils and parents
  • Current national guidance including Ofsted expectations, the Disability Discrimination Act, and the Equalities Act
  • How the PSHE policy impacts on other policies including HIV, anti-bullying, drugs and alcohol, healthy eating, and physical activity

This interactive training session is ideal for teachers and governors with a responsibility for writing and implementing policies that impact on the emotional and physical health and wellbeing of the pupils in their schools.

It is an ideal opportunity for those who are experienced in policy writing to reflect on good practice and for those new to the role to develop an evolving policy that meets the emerging needs of the pupils within their school.

Benefits and feedback:

A school policy which has been developed by, and shared with, the whole school community provides a clear framework for delivery of an integrated spiral curriculum.  This course gives participants the opportunity to develop a meaningful document, which is relevant, topical and reflective of national and local guidance.
