My son aged 15 years received 6 counselling sessions at his School with a Think 2 Speak counsellor. He was able to talk through his thoughts and feelings about the challenges he was struggling to cope with. We were able to notice an incredibly difference in his attitude at home, he has since been able to talk more respectfully and has calmed down his negative behaviour towards his family members. We believe his counsellor offered him a safe and confidential place and challenged his own negative thoughts about himself. He has developed a deeper awareness of himself and can now take care of himself more safely. He has grown in confidence and self esteem through this process.

Think2Speak’s Resilience Programme - KS3/KS4+ and YR 6/7 Transition

Enriching young people's

  • Approach to learning

  • Aspirations for success

  • Drive to accomplish their goals

Student achievement is predicated on more than academic ability and natural talent. High levels of mental toughness will encourage students to be more successful by enhancing their overall control, over the challenges placed before them. Reducing the chance of withdrawal. This dynamic and interactive programme enthuses young people to focusing on their:

  • Self-Belief - having a belief in one’s ability and one’s unique qualities to achieve success, providing the self-confidence to do so Motivation - a driving force or forces responsible for the initiation, persistence, direction and vigor of goal-directed behaviour
  • Focus - the ability to remain fully focused on the task or situation when specific distractions are apparent. When required and turn off any negative worry or self-talk
  • Resilience - the capability to regain psychological control, following unexpected events; thriving on pressure and being able to embrace the emotion and know it can be managed.

Young people who have completed Mental Toughness programmes benefit from:

  • Performing better academically
  • Higher completion/lower drop out rates
  • Improved behaviour – more engaged, more positive, more “can do” Increased wellbeing – more contentment, less bullying
  • Raised aspirations – more ambitious
  • Increased employability

Our feedback shows that even after one session, the overall mental toughness of participating young people increased, with their interpersonal confidence particularly, showing the greatest improvement.

The entire team at Think2Speak introduced enthusiasm, innovation and a significant level of knowledge and expertise into what was a complex and demanding project. They went over and above in offering time and advice, becoming more a part of the team than an agency supplier.
We were extremely pleased with the results, and in fact increased the project scope with Think2Speak.

Some children find it a real challenge to focus on academic work if they have a range of worries and concerns in or out of the school environment. We firmly believe that happy children progress and learn.

Working with Think2Speak has enabled us to create a bespoke
PSHE curriculum which meets the needs of our children.

Having access to counsellors, specially trained to work with children, has enabled us to break down some barriers and we can see a real difference with our pupils as a result. Parents have welcomed the opportunity for their child, or in some cases children, to have access to such a service in the school environment where the children feel safe.

Think2Speak have responded to our needs extremely quickly and effectively. They are the upmost professionals and passionate about the wellbeing of all pupils. They have a vast knowledge and experience base. Any support with policy and procedure is forthcoming and they always offer a friendly ear for advice either via the telephone or e mail.

The emotional health and well-being of our students and staff is extremely important. Through our school systems and ethos we strive to ensure that all individual needs are met.
Training we have received from Think2Speak has provided staff with the opportunity for self-reflection and also to consider how the good practice in the school supports our students well-being.
Becoming a Think2Speak school is an important part of our ongoing commitment to developing our provision further.
