Lincs YMCA - The Showroom
As a non profit charitable organisation we are tasked with the responsibility of offering help, support, advice and sanctuary to Lincolns Youths. Situated in one of the countries top 2% in deprivation we offer a whole host of activities and provisions that are financially accessible for the young people in and around the local estates. Some of these include Parkour, Duke of Edinburgh, a Theatre School, Sport activities, Fitness, Climbing, Sexual Health and Lincolns first LGBT group for youths. As well as the work we do in the centre we also deliver courses in school on everything mentioned and more as well as offering schools an alternative education programme for some of the more 'colourful' young people in society. Everything we deliver is always done so with confidence, passion and innovation. We enjoy what do and we make sure the young people do as well!
Using a background in police and crime investigations, we deliver practically based police investigation training to 7-11 year old children, and legal system and courtroom training to secondary school children.
This training is delivered by experienced former police investigators to give children a fun and dynamic day whilst helping schools to provide evidence for OFSTED inspection purposes, and is allied to GCSE Citizenship Studies for secondary schools.
We are able to adapt the day to suit the needs of a particular school or group of children, and are able to amend our offering for younger children; whilst having a package much more focussed on the courtroom for Y11 and upwards.
Amongst our other offerings, we include employability training for students equipping them to prepare for, and cope with interviews; whether for prospective employment, university or college places, or for any other purposes.
