Understanding and Supporting Grief, Loss and Bereavement

Suitable for all staff working with children and young people including senior management, teaching and support staff.

This one day workshop is designed to provide participants with the skills and confidence to support those who have, or are experiencing loss and / or bereavement. By the end of this session, participants will gain understanding of:

  • The stages of bereavement / grief
  • Blocks to recovery
  • Behaviours associated with bereavement and loss
  • Supporting children and young people who have been bereaved

This is a professional development event designed to increase knowledge and develop skills in this area. The approach to learning is both interactive and engaging to meet the needs of all participants.

Children and young people experience grief and bereavement from a range of sources. Including the death of a loved one, family breakdown, loss of a family pet and moving hone or school. When unsupported grief can have profound long lasting negative effects.
